Carl Lockstedt is a Houston native who graduated from HSPVA. He then studied painting at University of Houston Downtown under the direction of Benito Huerta. Since the 90’s, Carl has worked collectively within the local DIY art movement and punk skateboard culture. Carl has worked with many legendary DIY artists such as Tim Kerr and Mark Flood. He was a founding member and curator in Paper and Space Collective and a past resident artist at Hardy and Nance Studios. His current work continues the vision of DIY ideology with themes of protests for consumer culture and politics with refined focus on color theory and process.
